DocInfo History
Since 1912, the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) has collected information specifically related to disciplinary actions taken against physicians, making our database the most sophisticated and trusted source for complete and accurate physician information in the United States. Our comprehensive database contains information on disciplinary actions reported against physicians by regulatory, government and licensing entities. Those reporting entities include state medical allopathic and osteopathic boards, the Department of Health and Human Services, and other government entities, as well as international licensing authorities including Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand.
Initially, our national physician database was only accessible to hospitals, insurance companies, state medical boards and other credentialing entities. However, due to the increased public demand for access to physicians' credentials and disciplinary information, FSMB made its disciplinary database available to the general public in 2001. In 2006, educational, licensure and location information was added to the physician profile. More information will be added in the future, so please check back with us often.
By accessing our database, we believe the public can now make better and more informed decisions about the physicians they see.
